亅 is another basic stroke which is not used as independent Chinese character, but serves as character component only. To me, with the little hook at the bottom, it kind of looks like a crowbar. Scroll down on this page to see how the crowbar is used in the comics for characters which use 亅 as a component.
亅 is pronounced "jue2", which is represented by Zeus (kind of sounds like "ju"). Pinyin initials with the "ü" sound are represented by deities. "e2" is represented by the elevator's kitchen.
Do not confuse 亅 with 丨, which will be introduced later. The little hook at the bottom is what differentiates the two characters 干 (dry; to do) and 于 (preposition particle). Having two distinct mnemonic symbols for 亅 with 丨 helps to distinguish them.

narrowhouse generously uploaded his crowbar SVG to https://openclipart.org/detail/121285/crowbar so that I can use it in this comic. Thank you very much!
