下 = 一 + 卜 : Mnemonic symbol: from the up/down logic, and a little bit the shape of the character, a ladder.

Xi Shi (xi) is on a retreat in the ashram. Using a voodoo staff (卜), she divined that next (下) week she'll have to play the flute (一) sixteen hours per day. Because she hates playing the flute, she climbs over the ashram's bathroom (a4) wall using a ladder (下) to escape.

星 = 日 + 生 : The sun (日) and a satellite (星) had a love affair and now have a baby: Xi Shi (xi) is quietly sleeping in her little cradle (生) in front of the engine ((e)ng1).

昔 = 井 + 日 : Mnemonic symbol: From 奶昔, milkshake

In former times, Marie Curie thought that at the end of every day, the sun falls into a well and therefore the light goes off. Nowadays as she is floating in front of the space station, she finds that she was right: as in the former times, every evening the sun goes into the well to fetch herself a milkshake.

吓 = 下 + 口 : Marie Curie (xi) climbed a ladder (下) to reach a mandarin (口) which is stored on a very high shelf in the ashram's bathroom (a4), but half way up she remembers that she is terribly afraid of heights and is scared to death (吓).

小 = 八 + 亅 : Mnemonic symbol: a small daisy. 小 looks like the stem 亅 of the flower is pushing aside the earth 八 as it grows out of the seed in the ground.

Xi Shi (xi) is decorating her hair with lots of small (小) daisies (mnemonic symbol for 小) in the aorta's living room (ao3). She wants to have lots of daisies in the future as well, so she plants new daisies. She found that the perfect substrate for planting daisies is made by crushing eight-balls (八) with a crow bar (亅).

相 = 木 + 目 : I take "eye" and "tree" as resembling an ent, an alive tree. Marie Curie portrays an ent in the anglepod's bathroom. Unfortunately she's really bad at painting, and her portrait resembles more a Christmas tree. The Eye of Providence enters and, just from the shape of the Christmas Tree, instantly recognizes its own portrait. The Eye of Providence asks Marie Curie how much she wants to have for the painting, but Marie Curie just wonders if the Eye of Providence is made from Radium, because it radiates so much.

兴 = 小 + 一 + 八 : I would say this one looks definitely like a hedgehog, but since there's already a character for hedgehog, let's call this one a sea star.

兴 = 小 + 一 + 八 : Marie Curie found a sea star attached to a big eight ball in the engine's bathroom. As she is a curious and interested scientist, she wants to investigate the sea star, so she pokes it with a flute and tries to tickle it with a daisy.

香 = 日 + 禾 : Mnemonic symbol from 香草, spices.

Just as the sun is not looking Marie Curie plays a prank on her in front of the anglepod and puts some spices in her bowl of cereals.

嗅 = 口 + 臭 : Marie Curie (xi) is sniffing (嗅) at an old mandarin (口) she found in the outhouse's bathroom (ou4) and finds it stinks (臭) terribly.

协 = 办 + 十 : Marie Curie (xi) announces her new cooperative society (协) in the elevator's kitchen (e2). She wants to give crosses (十) to the poor. In reality her society is nothing more than a scam business (办): the crosses cost a lot of money.

腥 = 星 + 月 : Marie Curie (xi) finds that the moon (月) crashed on the earth in front of the engine ((e)ng1). She investigates the case and concludes that the moon was hit and killed by a satellite (星) which is still stuck into its head. The moon is reeking with blood (腥) where the satellite hit it. Because it has been dead for a while it stinks quite fishy (腥).

胁 = 办 + 月 : Marie Curie (xi) started a new business (办) in the elevator's kitchen (e2) offering gymnastic practice which helps to relieve tension in one's flank (胁). At first she offers the moon (月) to participate, but as the moon declines she threatens (胁) him with an impressive gymnastic move.
