This mnemonic works very well for me personally because X-ray crystallography was pretty important for my PhD thesis. In X-ray crystallography, proteins are assembled in a crystal structure. The crystal should be as large and as ordered as possible. When the "crystal" is hit with X-rays, the X-rays are diffracted. By measuring the diffraction pattern, the structure of the protein can be resolved on the atomic level.
